Bob Halliday was named senior vice president and CFO of Applied Materials in February 2013. He previously was executive vice president and CFO of Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates prior to Applied’s acquisition of the company in November 2011. During his tenure at Varian, Bob achieved record financial and stock performance and he was named a top CFO by Institutional Investor magazine.
Prior to Varian, Bob served as COO and CFO of Ionics, Inc., a manufacturer of water treatment capital equipment.
Bob earned an MBA and a bachelor of science degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and has been a Certified Public Accountant.
Bob exemplifies the company’s core values of responsibility and integrity at the office and in the community. He has served as executive champion of Applied’s annual food drive, raising awareness of hunger needs in our community and rallying employees to raise funds to benefit food banks in the Bay Area and across the U.S.
Bob and his family regularly participate in employee volunteer activities and, in 2015, he served as the official “starter” of the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot – a Thanksgiving Day charity run that attracts more than 25,000 participants to support local health and human service agencies.
Bob joins other key company executives as a member of Applied’s Community Engagement Council, a group whose discussion helps shape and guide corporate philanthropic programs that benefit the public while reinforcing the company’s reputation in the community and building employee engagement and pride.
