Carl Nichols, with over 25 years of experience, has led finance, operations and strategy roles in industries ranging from mission-driven nonprofits and industry-leading Fortune 500 companies to innovative venture capital funds and fast-growing entrepreneurial firms.
Carl joined Girl Scouts of Northern California in 2013 and leads a diverse set of functions, including finance, human resources and a majority of the organization’s revenue generation, e.g.:
Prior to Girl Scouts Carl was CFO at the Oakland Zoo where he helped develop the plans, funding and regulatory approvals to double the zoo’s size in an $80 million expansion. Carl spent the prior 15 years as co-founder and managing partner leading venture capital investments in early-stage technology companies. Previously Carl led strategic planning and financial management for Pacific Bell, which at that time became the first telco to offer Internet service and high speed data.
Carl has been active in a range of youth development areas, including Boards of education-focused funds and an inner-city charter school as well as serving on the faculty at the University of California-Berkeley.
Carl holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Brown University.
