The independent selection panel of the 19th Annual Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards is proud to announce the 2025 Bay Area CFO of the Year Winners:
The Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards is presented by Larkin Street Youth Services in partnership with the San Francisco Business Times, with title sponsors EY, Marsh McLennan Agency, and PNC. Proceeds benefit Larkin Street’s mission to prevent and end youth homelessness.
At this year’s awards ceremony, held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, more than 450 business leaders gathered to celebrate the finalists and winners, raising $600,000 to support young people building brighter futures through Larkin Street.
Doug Bettinger, Executive Vice President and CFO of Lam Research, was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional leadership in finance and technology. With executive experience at Lam Research, Avago Technologies, Xilinx, and Intel, Doug has consistently guided organizations through periods of transformation and growth. His work has advanced innovation while demonstrating the critical role of financial leadership in shaping successful companies. Doug’s commitment to mentorship and strategic vision has earned him respect across the industry, and his recognition this year underscores the lasting impact he has made on both the business community and future generations of leaders.
We were also inspired by Samantha Davis, a Larkin Street alumna and current Youth Leadership Fellow, who shared her journey from foster care to advocacy and stability. Reflecting on her first time speaking publicly at 17, she said:
“Maybe it was because I was only 17, but something deep within whispered that I didn’t belong up there. I kept asking myself ‘Why would anyone listen to me?’ But when I finished, I realized something that would change me forever. Even as a young person in the system, I had power. I had a voice. And I could use it to fight for something better.”
Today, Samantha is thriving as a student and activist, building on her lived experience to lead with confidence and purpose:
“Housing mattered a lot. But to truly make it on my own, I needed more than that. I needed mentors to guide me. None of us succeeds alone. Today, I’m a Youth Fellow, an activist, studying sociology, and speaking with the confidence of someone whose voice matters.”
Her remarks reminded the audience of the power of opportunity, mentorship, and investing in young people’s leadership.
