John Rainey is Chief Financial Officer and EVP Global Customer Operations of PayPal Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: PYPL), an S&P 100 company that creates innovative technology to make the management and movement of money safer, simpler and more affordable for over 200 million active customers in more than 200 markets around the world.In his role as CFO, John oversees financial stability and growth at PayPal, which includes leading PayPal’s financial operations, corporate accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, internal audit, tax, business unit CFOs, financial systems, global pricing, procurement and real estate. He brings more than 20 years of financial management experience to the role at PayPal.John is also responsible for leading the company’s Global Customers Operations team and guiding PayPal’s efforts to deliver on its promise of offering great services and experiences through its customer service centers around the world. This includes leading the Global Customer Services, Global Credit and Financial Services, Decisions and Analytics Management functions, as well as the Global Internal Controls Center of Excellence.Prior to PayPal, John served as Executive Vice President and CFO at United Continental Holdings, Inc.’s United Airlines, one of the world’s largest airlines. He spent a combined 18 years between United and Continental Airlines, and led the most profitable era in the company’s history. In this role, John was responsible for the company’s overall financial strategy and corporate strategy function overseeing corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, accounting, investor relations, strategic planning and risk management. He began his professional career at Ernst & Young LLP in Houston.John is an inaugural member of the CNBC Global CFO Council, a group of chief financial officers representing public and private companies from various major sectors, assembled to share insights and perspectives on key economic and business issues with the investment community. He is also a member of The Wall Street Journal CFO Network, a group which brings together leading chief financial officers from the world’s largest corporations to discuss the most pressing financialissues facing their companies today.John serves on the board of directors of Nasdaq, a diversified worldwide financial technology, trading and information services provider to the capital markets, where he is a member of the audit and finance committees. He is a member on the March of Dimes national board of trustees, where he was named the 2015 national chair of the March for Babies –the nation’s biggestfundraiser for mother and baby health. He also serves on the advisory board for Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business.John earned his BBA and MBA from Baylor University. He is a Certified Public Accountant. John lives in California with his wife and two children.
