Judd Sher joined Hellman & Friedman in 2012 and is the Firm’s Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for all finance, accounting, and tax matters. He is also responsible for human resources, technology, and other firm operational matters. Prior to H&F, Sher was a Principal with Deloitte Tax LLP in its M&A Transaction Services Group, where he specialized in advising private equity firms in tax due diligence, financial model review, and transaction structuring. He also spent four years in the Passthroughs Group in the National Tax Office of Deloitte focusing on partnerships, LLCs, joint ventures, and other strategic alliances. Sher has lectured on various partnership tax M&A issues and considerations. He has authored and co-authored several articles published in Tax Notes, PLI, the BNA Tax Management International Journal, and the Journal of Passthrough Entities. Sher is also a former Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center where he co-instructed the Business Planning Seminar. Sher was a board member of First Graduate, a San Francisco based organization that works with students starting as early as middle school to help young people become the first in their families to graduate from college. Most importantly, Sher is the proud father of three amazing boys. In his spare time, Sher is an avid mountain biker and still holds on to the illusion that he is a better athlete than his kids.
