Katrina O’Connell has been vital to Gap Inc.’s remarkable twenty-five-year journey with the company. Since March 2020, she has been steering the company as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Known for her deep understanding and passion for Gap Inc.’s mission, Katrina doesn’t just lead the global finance function—she embodies it. Throughout her impressive tenure, Katrina has navigated various roles—from Brand Finance to Inventory Management to Investor Relations—all while consistently leaving a legacy of excellence and high performance. Katrina’s journey within the G.A.P. family has been nothing short of inspiring. 

Before stepping into her role as C.F.O. of G.A.P., she was the financial heartbeat of Old Navy, overseeing its $8 billion multi-channel apparel business as the Chief Financial Officer and S.V.P., Strategy, Innovation, and Product Operations. Her strategic vision and innovative approach were instrumental in shaping Old Navy’s financial trajectory, real estate strategies, and product innovation. Working closely with the President and C.E.O., she was pivotal in driving Old Navy to new heights. Before her impactful tenure at Old Navy, Katrina served as Chief Financial Officer and S.V.P. of Strategy at Banana Republic. In this role, she led all strategic, financial, and operational elements of the $3 billion multi-channel global apparel brand. Katrina’s strategic insight and visionary leadership were instrumental as she took on global responsibility for portfolio management, growth strategy, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning. Her efforts drove significant growth and solidified Banana Republic’s position in a highly competitive market.

Beyond corporate Finance, Katrina is a well-rounded leader with a hand in critical areas such as Supply Chain, IT, Treasury, and Investor Relations. Her multi-faceted expertise has driven Gap Inc.’s overarching strategy and operational success. Additionally, her corporate roles have focused on financial budgeting and forecasting for Gap Inc.’s diverse portfolio of brands, including Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta. This comprehensive approach has allowed her to contribute significantly to the company’s growth and stability across its many facets.

Katrina’s academic roots trace back to Georgetown University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service. Her commitment to excellence extends beyond her professional life, serving as a Gap Foundation Audit Committee member and as Board Chair of the Mount Tamalpais School in Mill Valley, CA.  Additionally, she’s an active member of the Board of Advisors at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. She serves on the Board of Directors and as Audit Chair at the Chamberlain Group, a portfolio investment of Blackstone. In 2022, Katrina was honored with the William Gaston Alumni Award, established in 1963 to recognize exceptional service by undergraduate alums who have demonstrated leadership in various activities such as alum clubs, class programs, and school-related endeavors. Named after Georgetown University’s first student, William Gaston, this award celebrates his legacy of advocacy for religious freedom and personal integrity, traits that Katrina exemplifies through her outstanding service and leadership.
