Laura Zander – The Exploratorium

Laura Zander serves as the Exploratorium’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer and is responsible for Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and Facilities. She is also responsible for real estate operations and the relationship with the Port of San Francisco, which occupies the land of the Exploratorium. Laura’s roles include guiding all financial, tax, and legal aspects of operating a large non-profit organization. Before joining the Exploratorium, Laura served in various C.F.O. roles in non-profit and for-profit organizations. She also worked in project finance at Chase, building large infrastructure projects in Latin America. Laura earned her B.A. in English Literature from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and has lived a bi-lingual, bi-cultural life, and always seeks opportunities to leverage language and culture into the Exploratorium ethos. A 2013 awardee of the Most Influential Women in Business and now “Forever Influential,” Laura is also the recipient of Harvard Business School W50, honoring the 100 women demonstrating leadership in business, entrepreneurship, education, government, non-profits who have helped or mentored other women, served as role models for future generations of leaders, and was involved as a volunteer in her Community.
